Power Up Your Productivity On LinkedIn

In just 15 minutes a day ...

I recently went on a LinkedIn training course with the excellent Sam Rathling. On this course, I learnt how to make my profile stand out, tips and tricks on how to use LinkedIn and ways to meet potential clients on there ...

Linkedin is a great way to find new business. Could you be more productive with it?

One of the main takeaways was how to maintain your LinkedIn presence in just 15 minutes a day. I thought Wow! That sounds productive! Usually, on LinkedIn (or any other social media platform) we easily get distracted by interesting posts and chatting with people.

"The idea of doing your social media in 15 minutes a day is enticing, to say the least!"

However, to actually do this, I believe you need a structure and a process for doing so. This will stop you going off track and wasting time. Sam gave us a tracker to help us get into the habit of doing 15 minutes a day, and I have modified it to suit my style of working.

I thought you might like me to share it with you, so you can also be more productive on LinkedIn:

  1. Answer any messages you have received to make sure you stay on top of your correspondence.

  2. Check your notifications and respond to any likes and comments as this will help keep your engagement in conversations

  3. Go to the home feed and like, comment and share on posts from your connections. This is where you need to be firm and not go off on a tangent for hours!

  4. Spotted anyone in your target market or looks interesting in steps 2 and 3? Reach out to them by sending a personalised connection request.

  5. Post something yourself. This could be what you are up to today, an interesting quote or piece of information a picture or video.

That’s it! 5 easy steps to staying productive on LinkedIn.

It is useful to use a checklist to tick off each of the steps as you complete them. Not only does ticking something of your ‘to-do’ list feel great, but it also keeps you on target.

I will be adding a repeating task for this into my ‘to-do’ list system so I don’t forget to do this daily. The aim is to not only improve my LinkedIn status, but to win more business, so I will also be keeping track of how many leads I get through LinkedIn.

"I got one today so that is a great start!"

How do you stay on top of your social media? Does it bring you any business? Could you benefit from setting processes in place to make your social media time more productive?
